Overrrated by who though? In his time he was one of the best crossers of the ball in the game, and he still strikes a dead ball as well as anyone in the world. He's not on a par with the likes of Ronaldo or Ronaldinho though.... but you're not comparing like with like. Those guys are pure skill players, Beckham has never been that.



So to answer your question: perhaps the media frenzy that surrounded his every move (good looking guy, spice girl wife etc) makes it seem that he's overrated, but the truth is for the last few years he's been a celeb first, and a footballer second. A good footballer, but not a world beater by any stretch of the imagination.



So no, he's not overrated, because he's not rated all that highly by the people who matter (as a footballer).

David Beckham is NOT overrated! He was an outstanding player (emphasis on WAS). But he's still very good. I think he's still good enough for the English team. He's come to his team's rescue in clutch times in the past. He did it again in the World Cup and I think he still has something in him.

i dont think hes ovrerated. people love him, but i think thats more to do with how INCREDIBLY HOT he is. and the wife, and the ocd, and yeah. the media status. but as far as soccer goes, i dont think many ppl would go as far to say hes the best. and he used to be better. hes like one of 3 (i think) players to get a goal form behind the half way line. he was impressive if u see some of his early career. and his set plays are great. but yeah hes definately past his career best but still a good player. and its hard to compare soccer players coz they each do different things. plus he needs the support from better strikers. and his free kicks are sitll awesome. ah i love him hes so sweet

He can't dribble, he's not good in the air, he can't score with his left foot. But other than that, he's ok. Yes, a bit overrated i would say. He's an artist at free kicks though, gotta give him that.

Actually, I think he is, although he is a brilliant soccer player. Americans are coming to know him as "England's Best soccer Player" but he is getting older and more and more players are getting known. Like Wrooney.
