Question:
Did Gerrard dive in the 2005 Champions League final vs AC Milan?

Everyone knows the story. Down 3-0 at the half, Gerrard begins the comeback for Liverpool with a header, then draws a foul in the box, allowing Alonso to tie the score by converting the penalty.

At full speed, the foul didn't draw my attention and I haven't thought of it much since then. But I found this short clip on YouTube, and well, I'm not so sure that Gerrard was touched enough to significantly impede his progress (if at all).

Unfortunately, there's only one angle (the official appears to be off-screen to the left of the action). But the camera doesn't lie.

Or does it? You be the (unbiased) judge; would YOU have awarded the penalty?

Gerrard sold it but Gattuso shouldn't have been all over his a**.

Much more a dive than Grosso vs. Australia. I wouldn't have awarded it. Dudek was off his line during the penalties too.

He Dived no doubt about it ...

Also penalty wasn't converted .... Dida saved that penalty only to allow a follow up shoot.!

Funny some how beating Liverpoo last year didn't make me feel any better about 2005 final.

Forza Milan!!

I believe he dived or there was minimal contact which wasn't show by the cameras'. A penalty shouldn't of been awarded in that situation.

its a penalty because they took the player not the ball and in my eyes thats a penalty and a red card should of been showen because it was one on one with the keeper so its a penalty the ref gave a good decision to award the penalty :)

Of course I wouldn't have awarded a penalty if i was the referee. AC Milan should have won it fare and square.
